Large 8:o in a contemporary red half morocco binding. Spine gilt ornamented. Rubbed and spotted but firm and tight binding. Marbled endpapers. Engraved frontispiece (P. Corneille), (VI), 650 p, (II) + 8 tissue guarded colored full page engravings (2 with arms and 6 with costumes) and 24 tissue guarded steel engravings (incl. frontispiece and 2 maps engraved by P. Tardieu). In the text wood engraved vignettes. A partly foxed copy, somtimes heavvy, although mostly in margins and on the reverse of the plates. The coloured plates fine and clean. Minimal (2-3 mm.) tear in outer margins on 3 leaves in the beginning.
