American Fabrics

American Fabrics. American Fabrics. Number 6, 1948. (Three Dollars a Copy.). Reporter Publications, U. S. A. , 1948.
A most remarkable, softbound, quarterly magazine in folio format (280 x 370 mm.) with colour illustration on wrappers. "American Fabrics...dedicated to the belief that Fashion begins with the Fabric.../.../" This magazine is absolutely close to an artist book. It has wonderful coloured illustrations, wonderful advertising and a large number of fabric proofs pasted to adds. And there is a folded section of "Silk making and stages in the lifcycle of a silkworm" with six small silk proofs. To not talk about the pasted piece of sandpaper or the small pasted envelope with two tickets to the International Textile Industries Exposition at "Grand Central Palace in New York, Lexington Ave. - 46th - 47th STS June 7-12 2 P. M. to 10 P. M." Small paperloss at head and foot of spine and one joint below open. Some corner folds to wrappers and a few small spots. A few fabric proofs have some folds and there is a slight tendency to dog-ear up, else fine interior. It´s difficult to transmit the feeling of this magazine. If I try I should say OPTIMISM !
